The ladder is short. The parallels are the story.
The Gundam Card Game runs a four-step rarity ladder — Common, Uncommon, Rare, Legend Rare — plus a Promo tier for organized-play and product-exclusive cards. That is the entire printed ladder, and on its own it would be the least interesting rarity system we track.
What makes it worth a guide is the parallel system. Bandai reprints cards with alternate art at the same rarity, and TCGplayer encodes the difference as a "+" suffix on the rarity code: C+, U+, R+, LR+, and a rare double LR++. A parallel is not a higher rarity. It is a different printing of the same rarity, in a much smaller supply, at a completely different price.
Our pages never show you the raw code. A card displays its base rarity chip plus a "Parallel" modifier, because "LR++" is a database artefact and "Legend Rare (Parallel ++)" is what it actually means.
Every tier, with current medians
| Rarity | Base printings | Median | Parallels | Parallel median |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Common | 640 | $0.42 | 224 | $8.30 |
| Uncommon | 255 | $0.62 | 33 | $16.89 |
| Rare | 238 | $0.77 | 120 | $15.60 |
| Legend Rare | 113 | $1.93 | 106 | $38.33 |
| Promo | 106 | — | — | — |
Medians are the middle market price of the printings we hold a confident price for on August 25, 2026. Promo prices vary so widely by distribution that a single median would mislead, so we show none.
Reading the multiplier honestly
Across the ladder the parallel printing consistently carries a multiple of its base version's median: Common $0.42 against $8.30, Rare $0.77 against $15.60, Legend Rare $1.93 against $38.33.
Two cautions come with those numbers. They are medians, not forecasts — half the printings in each bucket sit below them. And they are computed only from printings we hold a confident price for, which excludes the thin end of the market where a single optimistic listing is the whole price. Bandai publishes no pack odds for this game, so nothing here can be converted into "what a box is worth"; we do not publish that number for the Gundam Card Game and we will not estimate it.
Legend Rare, and what sits above it
Legend Rare is the top of the printed ladder: 113 base printings and 106 parallels in our data. The double-parallel LR++ printings are the smallest population in the game — 14 of them — and they carry the highest medians of anything we track.
They are also where the price data gets thinnest, which is exactly where care matters most. A card with two listings has a price the way a coin toss has an average. Every card page on InkSight carries a confidence chip for that reason, and a "thin market" card is one to research, not to buy on the strength of a number.
Colourless cards and tokens
Not every card has a colour. 257 printings in our data are colourless: resource cards, EX Base and EX Resource tokens, and the promotional resource tokens Bandai has handed out at events. They are filterable as their own bucket on the card browser rather than being hidden, because a collector completing a set needs them and a player never buys them.
Tokens rarely carry meaningful value, with the occasional exception of a promotional printing whose distribution was genuinely limited. Treat any token listing above a couple of dollars as something to check rather than something to chase.
Practical rules
- Check the suffix before the price. "(C+)" and no suffix are different products with different markets.
- Play with base printings. They are functionally identical to their parallels and cost a fraction.
- Rarity is not scarcity. A Common parallel can outprice a base Legend Rare, and on this snapshot several do.
- Respect thin data. A confident price comes from a real spread of listings; anything else is a starting point for research.
Next: the starter guide covers what to buy first, and the Pilots and Units galleries group every printing of a subject so you can see the whole parallel spread at once.
