About

The Ink Desk

Every article on InkSight is signed “By The Ink Desk.” The Ink Desk is our editorial desk — the small team that writes the guides, set retrospectives and market reads on this site. We sign the desk instead of a person because the work is the same either way: a page is only as good as the data under it, and that data is ours.

Why a desk, and not a name

Most of what we publish is written against our own daily price snapshots, and it gets revisited when the numbers move. A shared byline is the honest description of that: pieces are drafted, checked against the feed, and updated later — often not on the same day, and often not by whoever started them. If you want to reach the people behind it, the contact form lands with us directly.

What you will never see here: a stock-photo headshot, an invented masthead of contributors, or a personality we do not have. We are a data site that writes.

Where the numbers come from

Prices on InkSight are TCGplayer snapshots we record ourselves, once a day, per card, per game. Articles quote the snapshot date next to the number, because a price without a date is a rumour. The full method — what we record, what we deliberately do not claim, and how thin markets are flagged — is written out on our methodology page.

Three rules govern every piece the desk publishes:

Series we run

Some articles belong to a recurring format, and carry that series’ chip on their tile:

Corrections

We get things wrong. When we do, the page is fixed and the update date on its byline changes — we do not quietly reissue an article as new. If you spot a bad number, a dead link or a claim we cannot back, tell us and it gets fixed.

How we make money

Some outbound links to shops are affiliate links, and articles carrying them say so at the top. Affiliate revenue never decides what we cover or which way a piece reads — the data does. There is no paywall on the articles and no sponsored placements in our market rows.
