Disney Lorcana at D23 2026: every announcement, the set roadmap, and what it means for collectors

Ravensburger used its D23 panel to lay out Lorcana's next eighteen months: Hyperia City in October, a villain-led Into the Inkdark in early 2027, a space-themed Cosmic Quest later that year, a brand-new serialized rarity, Collector Boosters with a restricted retail footprint, and a digital game in development. Here is the full roadmap, with every conflicting report flagged rather than smoothed over.

As of August 15, 2026. Sources: the Ravensburger D23 panel, Disney Parks Blog, CBR and LaughingPlace, attributed inline. We will update this page as Ravensburger confirms details.

Existing cards shown throughout this article — the D23 2026 reveals are not in our data yet, so every image is a released, tracked card rather than an artist’s impression of an unreleased one.

The panel — billed as "Quests Ahead for Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game" — ran on Friday, August 14, 2026 at 7:30 PM PT from the Anaheim Convention Center, and streamed on Ravensburger's Disney Lorcana Twitch channel. Elaine Chase (Head of Category, TCG), Jenna Giuffrida (Senior Narrative Manager) and Naomi Kim (International Project Manager) took the stage for the game's third anniversary.

Two numbers framed everything that followed: more than 2.8 billion cards sold since launch, and a publisher that says it is actively planning sets through 2029 and beyond. That second figure matters more to collectors than it sounds. A publisher planning five years out is a publisher that intends to keep supporting — and reprinting into — the sets you are buying today. If you are new here, our Disney Lorcana hub tracks daily prices across every set in the game.

The roadmap, at a glance

Four sets were on screen, and only two of them carry firm dates. We have drawn the sequence exactly as it was presented, with the unconfirmed slots marked as unconfirmed rather than quietly rounded into a tidy release calendar.

Disney Lorcana set roadmap as announced at D23 2026 Attack of the Vine, Set 13, already shipped. Hyperia City, Set 14, prerelease October 16 and retail October 23, 2026. Into the Inkdark, Set 15, first quarter 2027. Cosmic Quest, 2027, set number and quarter unconfirmed. The roadmap as Ravensburger presented it at D23 on August 14, 2026. Dashed nodes are announcements without a confirmed slot — we will harden them as Ravensburger publishes dates. Scroll the diagram sideways on a phone.

What is still unconfirmed

Three details are being reported differently by different outlets. None of them is a small point — each one changes what a collector should do — so we are publishing the disagreement instead of picking a winner.

  • Conflict 1

Which set does Illustrious debut in?

Disney Parks Blog presents the first Illustrious reveal, Maleficent – Biding Her Time, as an Into the Inkdark (Set 15) card. CBR, reporting from a Ravensburger press conference held before the panel, says Illustrious arrives with Hyperia City at the October 16 prerelease. That is a two-set, roughly one-quarter gap.
  • Conflict 2

When is the Beauty and the Beast Curator's Collection?

Disney Parks Blog says October 2027. CBR says Fall 2026. Unresolved. Our own reasoning — not a fact — is that Fall 2026 is the more consistent reading, because the first Curator's Collection, Heroines Edition, arrived in July 2026 and a fourteen-month gap to the second would be unusual. Treat that as reasoning until Ravensburger publishes a date.
  • Conflict 3

Where does Cosmic Quest actually sit?

Disney Parks Blog places it "later in 2027"; CBR and LaughingPlace both put it in Q2 2027, closing out year four. Earlier 2026 reporting had Set 16 in Q2 2027 attached to a Leroy & Stitch tease, so whether Cosmic Quest is Set 16 or a later slot is not confirmed. We are not assigning it a set number.
One more inconsistency, noted neutrally. The set is Hyperia City. Disney's own post writes "Hyperion City" twice — in the Ink drops reveal and again in the district description. The name honours Hyperion Studio, so the slip is understandable, but if you are searching for reveals it is worth knowing both spellings are in circulation.

Hyperia City (Set 14): metro meets fantasy, and a new resource

Hyperia City lands at prerelease on October 16, 2026 and hits mass retail on October 23. The theme is urban — Ravensburger's framing is metro meets fantasy — and it leans heavily on music and art. The name honours Hyperion Studio, home of Walt Disney Studios from 1926 to 1940 and the birthplace of Mickey Mouse, which is about as on-brand as a set name gets for a three-year anniversary.

The set is organised into neighbourhoods: Greenway, Old Towne Hyperia, the Marigold District and City Center. Five location cards were shown for the first time — Land of the Dead – Marigold Bridge, Merlin's Shop and Smithy – Magical Market, Khan Industries – Greenway Landmark, Institute of Technology – Honey Lemon's Lab, and Khan Stadium – State of the Art.

Three character glimmers also appeared: Minnie Mouse – Urban Visionary, Donald Duck – Taxi Driver, and Mickey Mouse – Best in Town, which has an Enchanted variant and whose subtitle nods to "hot dog," Mickey's first spoken words. Ravensburger additionally teased Disney Princess characters reimagined pursuing their passions, and Pepita — the alebrije from Coco — in multiple forms. Coco is the headline franchise for the set and debuts in Lorcana here; Héctor Rivera appears on a card included in the D23 2026 Collection.

The mechanical headline is Ink drops, described at the panel as one-time bursts of ink power available to heroes and villains alike. That is the entire published description. Ravensburger has not released rules text, timing windows, or any card showing the mechanic in action, so treat Ink drops as announced-not-yet-detailed. We will not guess at how it plays.

The collector read

Nothing in Hyperia City is tradeable yet, so there is no price to report and we will not invent one. What is worth doing now is the boring, useful thing: know what the set adds to the format, and know what it does not remove. Hyperia City adds to the Core Constructed pool. It does not rotate anything out — the 2026 rotation already happened with Attack of the Vine (Set 13), which removed Sets 5 through 8, and the next rotation is expected with Set 17 in 2027. Our 2026 rotation explainer and the full set list and rotation guide cover the mechanics of that.

The Hyperia City product lineup was already public before D23 and has not changed: a 24-pack booster display at $143.76, an Illumineer's Trove at $49.99, a Prerelease Box at $39.99, and two playmats at $24.99 (Miguel, and Snowboarding Stitch). We track the set's cards from the day they enter our feed. Until then, the honest comparison point is the current set: our Hyperia City page collects everything confirmed so far.

Illustrious: 6 cards, 23 copies, 138 in the world

The structural story of the panel is a new top rarity called Illustrious. Every outlet agrees on the shape of it: serialized cards, six per set, twenty-three copies of each printed, with premium foiling and bespoke accents. The stated concept is to give notable card artists room to work in their own style rather than to a house look.

Do the arithmetic and the scarcity becomes concrete: 6 × 23 = 138 serialized Illustrious cards per set, worldwide. For comparison, that is a print run small enough that the entire population could sit in a single binder. We are deliberately attaching no price forecast to that number. Serialized scarcity and realised value are different things, and we publish tracked prices rather than predictions.

Where Illustrious sits above the existing Disney Lorcana rarity ladder From the bottom: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Super Rare, Legendary, then the premium chase tier of Enchanted, Epic and Iconic, and above all of them the new Illustrious tier — six cards per set, twenty-three copies of each, one hundred and thirty-eight serialized cards per set. Illustrious — new top tier serialized · 6 per set · 23 copies each · 138 total per set Enchanted · Epic · Iconic existing chase tiers Legendary Super Rare Rare Common · Uncommon
Illustrious sits above everything Lorcana has printed so far. The arithmetic is the story: six cards, twenty-three copies each, one hundred and thirty-eight serialized cards per set worldwide.

Where it debuts is the open question. Disney Parks Blog frames the first reveal, Maleficent – Biding Her Time, as an Into the Inkdark card; CBR's pre-panel reporting says Illustrious starts with Hyperia City on October 16. If CBR is right, the first serialized pulls happen at a prerelease seven weeks from now. If Disney Parks Blog is right, they happen in Q1 2027. Both cannot be true, and neither has been corrected at the time of writing.

Single-source detail. CBR also reports that Illustrious Rares carry "Infinity Legal" status — permanently tournament-legal even after their set leaves the rotation pool. No other outlet has reported this and Ravensburger has not published it. If it holds, it would sit outside the rotation model entirely, which would be the first permanent-legality carve-out Lorcana has had. Flagged as unconfirmed, single-source, and consequential.

Into the Inkdark (Set 15) and the Collector Booster problem

Set 15 arrives in Q1 2027 and it is villain-led. Hades is the central schemer; players work to unravel his plan while exploring the Dark Illuminary. The narrative framing is a clean inversion of the hero-forward sets that came before it.

The product news is bigger than the story news. Collector Boosters were confirmed and detailed for the first time, and they become part of every new set release starting with Into the Inkdark.

Collector Booster

  • 12 randomized premium foil cards
  • Every card carries a special foil treatment
  • Higher-rarity cards appear more often
  • Limited quantities of packs and display boxes
  • Restricted retail channels (see below)
  • Starts with Into the Inkdark, then every set

Standard booster

  • Explicitly unchanged by this announcement
  • Same contents and same distribution as today
  • Available through normal retail, including local game stores
  • Still the way most players open Lorcana

Beast — Tragic Hero — Rise of the Floodborn (Disney Lorcana)

Where you can actually buy them. Per the panel, Collector Boosters and Collector Booster Display Boxes will be limited in quantity and sold only at Ravensburger Play Hub stores, the Ravensburger Online Store, and select Disney locations. That list does not include general local game stores. Anyone watching allocation and secondary-market pricing should note the channel change now, before Q1 2027.

We are not going to characterise what that does to prices, because it has not happened yet. What we will do is track it: once Collector Boosters and their singles enter our feed, they get the same daily snapshot treatment as everything else, and you will be able to compare a Collector Booster pull against its standard-pack equivalent in the same view. Our Into the Inkdark page is where that coverage lives.

Cosmic Quest: announced, not scheduled

The space-themed set got a sneak peek — cosmic-inspired glimmers including Ariel in an astrosuit. Disney Parks Blog places it "later in 2027"; CBR and LaughingPlace both put it in Q2 2027 as the closer for year four.

Mickey Mouse — Brave Little Tailor — D23 Promos (Disney Lorcana)

The complication is that earlier 2026 reporting had Set 16 in Q2 2027 tied to a Leroy & Stitch tease. Either Cosmic Quest is that set under a different name, or it sits later in the year and Set 16 is still unannounced. Nobody on stage clarified it, so we are leaving the set number blank rather than filling it in with the likelier-looking answer.

The Curator's Collections

The Beauty and the Beast Curator's Collection uses stained-glass-inspired art tied to the film's 35th anniversary. Six cards were shown: the song card "Be Our Guest", Mrs. Potts – Enchanted Teapot, Belle – Hidden Archer, Lumiere – Fiery Friend, Gaston – Intellectual Powerhouse, and Beast – Tragic Hero. Its date is Conflict 2 above and remains unresolved.

The D23 Curator's Collection debuted at the show on August 14, 2026 with six cards: Angel – Siren Singer, Pocahontas – Following the Wind, Mushu – Stealthy Dragon, Hector Rivera – Gone to Pieces, Judy Hopps – Uncovering Clues, and Mr. Incredible – Taking Out the Trash. Per CBR it retails around $190 and — this is the part collectors should read twice — it is not D23-exclusive. Limited quantities are also going to Downtown Disney at the Disneyland Resort and to Disney locations in the UK, Paris, Hong Kong, Singapore and Australia. At D23 itself it is sold through a virtual queue.

Broader distribution than a normal convention exclusive is a straightforward collector implication: the supply of a "show exclusive" is not confined to the show. We will report what it actually trades at once it appears in our daily snapshots, and not before.

Books, parks, and a digital Lorcana

Two books were confirmed. Quest of Wonders: An Illumineer's Lorebook debuted at D23 ahead of a general release on September 1, 2026 — 288 pages, hardcover in an illustrated slipcase, written by Jacob Rennaker and illustrated by Daniel Rodriguez. Every copy includes an exclusive promo card, Pegasus – Searching High and Low, with art by Rodriguez; D23 weekend buyers also received a themed bookmark. The Disney Lorcana Visual Guide follows on February 1, 2027 per Disney Parks Blog (CBR refers to it as "A Visual Guide Through the Magical Realm" and places it in Q1 2027), with preorders taken at the Ravensburger booth during the show.

On the parks side, Lorcana returns to the EPCOT International Festival of the Arts in 2027, where Figment gets his first-ever Lorcana card as the exclusive EPCOT card — dates and lineup are not yet announced. Lorcana experiences including Collection Quests also expand across the Disney Cruise Line fleet in 2027 and beyond.

And the long-requested one: a digital version of the Disney Lorcana TCG is in development for mobile and desktop. Ravensburger announced no release window, no platform detail and no monetisation model, and is running a developer-update signup in the meantime. Players have been asking since the game was announced in 2022; an in-development confirmation is not a release date, and we are treating it as exactly that.

Also at the show: a Winnie the Pooh – Hunny Wizard premium foil playmat with art by John Loren and stitched edges, tied to Pooh's 100th anniversary; a Ravensburger Store booth running gifts-with-purchase including promo cards and pins; and the first D23 Disney Lorcana CCQ, an official Challenge program tournament.

What we would actually do with this

Three things, none of them speculative. First, decide before October whether you are buying Hyperia City sealed or singles, because a set with a brand-new serialized tier attached to it is a set where sealed and single pricing can diverge early. Second, if the Collector Booster channel list holds, the practical constraint in Q1 2027 will be access rather than price — knowing which Play Hub or Disney location near you stocks them is worth more than a budget. Third, keep the Illustrious debut question open in your own planning; a seven-week horizon and a two-quarter horizon call for very different decisions.

Frequently asked questions

When does Hyperia City (Set 14) release?

Ravensburger has Hyperia City at prerelease on October 16, 2026 and at mass retail on October 23, 2026. The already-public product lineup includes a 24-pack booster display at $143.76, an Illumineer’s Trove at $49.99, a Prerelease Box at $39.99, and two $24.99 playmats.

What is an Illustrious card in Disney Lorcana?

Illustrious is a new top rarity announced at D23 2026. It is serialized, with 6 Illustrious cards per set and only 23 copies of each printed — 138 serialized cards per set worldwide. Ravensburger describes premium foiling and bespoke accents, with the concept built around giving notable card artists room for their own style. Which set they debut in is currently reported two different ways.

What is a Collector Booster and where can I buy one?

A Collector Booster holds 12 randomized premium foil cards, each with a special foil treatment, and higher-rarity cards turn up more often than in a standard pack. Standard boosters are explicitly unchanged. Collector Boosters begin with Into the Inkdark and, per the panel, will be limited in quantity and sold only through Ravensburger Play Hub stores, the Ravensburger Online Store, and select Disney locations — a list that does not include general local game stores.

Is Disney Lorcana getting a digital game?

Yes. Ravensburger confirmed at D23 2026 that a digital version of the Disney Lorcana TCG is in development for mobile and desktop, and is running a developer-update signup. No release window, platform detail or monetisation model has been announced.

Does Hyperia City rotate anything out?

No. The 2026 rotation already happened with Attack of the Vine (Set 13), which removed Sets 5 through 8 from the Core Constructed pool. Hyperia City adds to the pool. The next rotation is expected with Set 17 in 2027.

When is the Beauty and the Beast Curator’s Collection out?

That is unresolved. Disney Parks Blog puts it in October 2027; CBR reports Fall 2026. We are reporting both until Ravensburger publishes a single date.

Sources and corrections

Reported from the Ravensburger D23 panel "Quests Ahead for Disney Lorcana Trading Card Game" (August 14, 2026), Disney Parks Blog's D23 write-up, CBR's reporting from Ravensburger's pre-D23 press conference, and LaughingPlace. Where those sources disagree, we have said so inline instead of choosing between them.
