02 How sets work in Disney Lorcana
Each set is a fresh wave of cards — new characters, often new mechanics, and a new round of Enchanted and (when applicable) Iconic chase cards. Booster packs, booster boxes, gift sets, and Illumineer's Troves are the main ways sets reach players. Most sets share the same booster-box configuration of 24 packs.
03 What rotation means
Like most TCGs, Disney Lorcana supports more than one format. The flagship competitive format rotates — older sets stop being legal as new ones come in — so the card pool stays fresh. The exact rotation cadence and which sets are legal at any moment is set by Ravensburger; check the official Disney Lorcana site for the current legal list before a tournament. For the specific 2026 rotation — which sets left and when — see Lorcana rotation 2026.
What that means in practice:

- Tournament demand is concentrated in cards from currently-legal sets.
- Casual / "Infinity"-style formats keep older cards alive, so rotation isn't a hard kill switch.
- Collector demand (Enchanteds, Iconics, first printings of headline characters) is largely rotation-proof — collectors don't care if a card is tournament-legal.
04 How rotation affects prices
When a set rotates out of the main competitive format, you typically see:
- A dip in pure competitive staples (the cards whose price was the format).
- Stability or appreciation in collector-driven cards from that set.
- Sealed product from rotated sets tends to firm up over time as print runs end.

05 Buying smart across the set list
- Currently-legal sets: sealed boxes are usually fine at MSRP if you also play; singles are where the spend gets risky if you're chasing.
- Recently-rotated sets: a window where competitive staples are cheap and collector cards are usually fairly priced.
- Long-dead sets: sealed is the safest hold; singles are condition-sensitive.
